How much your licence costs

You pay a one-off application fee when applying for a licence. You also pay annual levies. If you want to suspend your licence, you pay an annual fee.

Refunds

  • We'll issue a refund if you upgrade to a higher class of licence

When we’ve approved your higher class of licence, you may want to complete a notice of voluntary surrender for your original licence and send it to us.

If you paid for the original licence by internet banking or cheque, please attach a deposit slip for the account the payment was made from. There is no need to do this if you paid by credit card.

We’ll calculate the amount of the refund and process it within 20 days.

We issue refunds based on the part of the year the licence isn't used.

  • We'll issue a refund if a licensee dies

A member of the licensee's family needs to give us:

    • a copy of the death certificate
    • a bank deposit slip showing the account of the estate we need to pay the refund into
    • a copy of:
      • the section of the will that identifies the appointed executor, or
      • a copy of the power of attorney that appoints the person requesting the refund as executor, or
      • a completed statutory declaration (please contact us for this).

We'll calculate the amount of the refund and process it within 20 days.

We issue refunds based on the part of the year the licence isn't used.

  • When we don’t issue a refund

    • You suspend your licence (put it on hold).
    • You surrender your licence (give it up permanently).
    • We cancel your licence.
