Keeping your details up to date
REA holds details about you in the public register on our website. If anything changes, you or the agency you work for should let us know within 10 days.
You need to inform us if there is any change in the information recorded about you in the public register. This covers all information such as a change of name, phone number or address, a new employer or anything that might prohibit someone from being licensed.
Why is this important?
It's important to keep your details up to date so that you don’t miss out on key information from us such as renewal reminders, industry newsletters and information about your continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
If you don’t keep us updated, you might be committing an offence under section 145 of the Real Estate Agents Act 2008(external link). This could make you liable for a fine of up to $10,000.
Also, if we receive a complaint or a phone call about a potential complaint that involves you, we’ll call your supervisor first. If you haven’t updated your contact details or told us that you’ve moved agencies, we might end up talking to the wrong supervisor about the complaint.
Details you need to keep up to date with
You can update most of your details yourself in the licensee portal, including your preferred name, contact details and employment information. For more significant changes such as a change to your legal name or a change in your circumstances that may affect your eligibility to be licenced, please contact us.
Examples of things that may affect eligibility include:
- criminal charges
- any significant financial issues, such as bankruptcy
- disciplinary action by another regulatory or professional body.
If you run a registered company, you need to tell us about anything that could affect the eligibility of any of the company’s officers or licensees working with the company.
